History of a Viper

Sutton Vipers Emerged in 1996 and officially competed in their first season in 1997. The club started with only one age group- Peewee which comprises of boys aged between 7 and 12 whose energy, eagerness to learn, and sports-man like attitude allows them to develop into a very strong and close-knit unit for the grass roots of the club.

Based out of the North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) sports facility in Epsom, Surrey, the club soon consisted of 4 teams from Peewee to Senior level offering a full spectrum of youth development within the organization.

The club provided several locally scouted and developed players over the years who have gone on to become capped Regional, England & Great Britain players.

The club itself has always been supported by many friends and hard working parents, all of whom donate their time freely and willingly to ensure that the athletes can remain focused on enjoying the game and developing their skills.

The Sutton Vipers Skater Hockey Club also always had strong affiliations with one of England's most successful skater hockey teams who trained at the same venue, the Kingston Street Flyers or more commonly known as K.S.F. who have won many domestic and overseas trophies.

2005 was the year K.S.F. joined the same regional League (S.A.S.H.) as the Vipers so the mutual support for each other grew unless of course when the 2 Snr teams clashed, which did happen with some very close results in their first season together!

In 2007 Sutton Vipers & K.S.F. finally decided to merge and officially competed as one club consisting of 5 teams (2 Snr teams) in the 2008 season. All the original Sutton Vipers teams became renamed as K.S.F. Vipers and K.S.F.'s one Snr team retained it's original name of K.S.F.

The reason for the naming was a simple one, K.S.F. already had a known name with heritage, being one of the oldest remaining clubs in Europe and thus known in the international skater hockey community which would of course open doors to tournaments for all age groups within the club etc if under the K.S.F. banner.

K.S.F. also looked to merge because they lacked any youth development whatsoever consisting of only one strong Snr team. The Vipers on the other hand had 4 teams in every age group along with an excellent club structure. So common sense prevailed and with a kit revamp in place and some K.S.F. players taking the step of coaching the young Vipers the merger took place for the right reasons.

2008 was only the end of Sutton Vipers as a name. The old logo still resides on the tail of their shirts so not to be forgotten and the club still remains very much the same and alive within the new K.S.F. Organization.

K.S.F. Vipers aim is to become one of England's leading skater hockey clubs.

The K.S.F. Vipers team are aged 18+ and train every Saturday from 2.30 to 4.00 at Nescott College Sports Hall
